Asymetrical

Asymetrical — Vancouver street photography by Miguel Franco

Asymetrical

Reflections, two realities, side by side but never exactly alike. "Asymmetrical" captures this ordinary yet deliciously playful phenomenon. Street photographers, myself included, are suckers for reflections. Hell, we live and breathe light; reflections add a unique flavor, familiar yet surprising, like tasting something you can't quite put your finger on, but somehow, you know it well.

Collection

I've been fascinated by reflections ever since I first picked up a camera, though my ever-wise mentor warned me: beware the shiny stuff, kid, too easy, too tempting, like grabbing the lowest apple from the tree. But I'd like to think I've approached this enticing little corner of photography with the respect and care it deserves, due diligence, curiosity, and maybe just the right dash of fun.

In this collection, I've curated reflections that go beyond cheap thrills, images that refuse to be obscene, obvious, or quickly forgotten. These frames are carefully built, deliberately composed, each one patiently lying in wait for that special something, an unexpected flicker of humanity, the decisive moment, before my finger hits the shutter. Let's be honest: few photographers linger long enough to turn reflections into something genuinely meaningful. But hey, patience pays. And it tastes damn good when it does.
