Vancouver Street Photography by Miguel Franco
I'm a Vancouver-based street photographer and visual artist, shooting raw, candid moments from the streets of downtown Vancouver, Gastown, Chinatown, the Downtown Eastside and beyond. Every frame is made on a 16mm wide-angle lens with a Fujifilm body, a pairing I've stayed faithful to for over six years.
My work sits between documentary and fine art street photography: unposed human moments, reflections, urban culture, protests, and the quiet, overlooked poetry of a rainy West Coast afternoon. The archive lives here as Liebre Negra, a curated record of years chasing stories through the streets of Vancouver and the world.
Browse the six collections below — Epitome, Asymetrical, Numanity, Resistencia, Radicccolour and Contracultura — each one a different thread of Vancouver's street life captured frame by frame.
Meet the photographer
You can't fake a good street photograph. The camera knows. Either you trust the mess of strangers and weather and bad timing — or you go home with clean shoes and nothing to show for it.
